Sponsored by Credit Suisse, the Credit Suisse Cosmoscow Prize for Young Artists will be presented at Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair in Moscow on Sept. 8-11. The finalists will be announced at Cosmoscow press-conference on September 8th. The new award is designed to support emerging artists in Russia and has been introduced during the bank’s second year as the strategic partner of the Cosmoscow art fair. This follows the 2015 event at which Credit Suisse bought artworks created by Sveta Shuvaeva, a young Russian artist who was selected as the “Artist of the Year” for this year’s fair.
As part of the Credit Suisse Cosmoscow Prize for Young Artists selection process, an independent committee comprised of four art experts has created a long list of around 20 young Russian artists under the age of 35. A larger jury of leading international art professionals will then review their work and choose three winners whom will each receive a prize of CHF 3,000.
In addition, a public vote during the preview of the fair will determine which one of the three winners will receive an additional prize of support from mentors and art experts at Credit Suisse and Cosmoscow. During the fair the bank will also acquire a work by a young Russian artist, which will become part of the Credit Suisse art collection in Moscow.
