Palto Gallery

Palto Gallery was established in 1995 by the Pertsy group and Alexander Petrelli (b. 1968). Since 1998 Petrelli works alone. Palto Gallery’s exhibitions include small-scale artworks displayed at the coat’s lining. Petrelli throws open his coat in front of selected viewers during exhibition vernissages and other sort of art events. Subject matter of the exhibition and list of represented artists correspond to the event, in which the gallery participates. Most of the exhibited works are being made exclusively for the gallery. The democratic nature of the project lies not only in pricing policy, but also in the choice of authors. The list of represented artists includes famous names (V. Pivovarov, AES+F, V. Mamyshev-Monroe, О. Kulik, V. Zakharov, Y. Albert, А. Osmolovsky, V. Dubossarsky and А. Vinogradov, P. Pepperstein), new wave artists with established reputation (V. Chtak, А. Yoffe, P. Bystrov, EliKuka, К. Kto), and emerging artists (X. Dranysh, S. Grishina).
