PARAZIT Gallery

PARAZIT Gallery is a new type of gallery that emerged from within an artist collective based on horizontal relationships. The gallery showcases contemporary underground art from St. Petersburg and actively supports young artists, helping to integrate them into the art scene.

Today, PARAZIT stands as one of St. Petersburg’s most vibrant creative initiatives. The concept of “artistic parasitism” was brought to life in 2000 by Vadim Flyagin and Vladimir Kozin, members of the Novye Tupyye (New Dummies) collective.

Since 2004, PARAZIT has been organizing exhibitions on a bi-weekly basis. Themed exhibitions succeed one another continuously in the Borey Gallery’s corridor.

Another element of the gallery’s concept is Vera Svetlova’s “Parazit in Galleries and Museums Worldwide" project, in which artists leave their works in the lockers of various institutions and keep the key as an artifact signifying their participation. As a result, works by the gallery’s artists are housed in the Centre Pompidou, the Louvre, MoMA, the Hermitage, and other museums around the world.
