In 1995, the Peppers group and artist Alexander Petrelli founded the Overcoat Gallery. Since 1998, Petrelli has been working alone.
The Overcoat Gallery’s exhibitions feature small-scale works displayed on the lining of coats. Petrelli opens the gallery’s ‘doors’ to select audiences, attending vernissages and other cultural events. The theme and artist of each exhibition correspond to the event the gallery is participating in. The gallery specifically commissions most of the displayed works. The project’s open-minded approach extends not only to its pricing policy but also to its selection of works. The gallery works with a wide range of artists.
