Open Gallery

Established in 2009 and owned by Natalia Tamruchi (art historian, author of numerous publications on contemporary art and its first museum collection, now at the Tretyakov gallery).

The gallery works with Moscow conceptualism school members (Yuri Albert, Vadim Zakharov, Andrei Monastirsky, Igor Makarevich, Nikita Alekseev and others) as well as with such key representatives of the Russian art scene as Alexander Brodsky, Vladimir Dubosarsky, Avdey Ter-Oganyan, the MishMash group, Andrey Kuzkin, Ivan Lungin, Anna Zhelud and many others. One of the successful discoveries of the gallery is the SHILO group (Vladislav Krasnoschek and Sergey Lebedinsky). Once an emerging group, now they are in a middle of a headlong career.

The gallery has represented artists who have not only been nominated for major Russian awards including the Kandinsky Prize and Soratnik award but also represented Russia at the Venice Biennale.

From the very beginning, the Open Gallery abandoned the concept of traditional personal exhibitions and only conducts either solo artist shows or group curatorial projects. The latest of such projects, entitled "What we Hear When We Watch" became the central piece of the 10th Manifesta's parallel program.
