The Association of Galleries

The Association of Galleries is celebrating its second anniversary this autumn. One of the strategic issues for the Association is the problem of replenishing museum funds. The work group of the Association, together with partner Delcredere, has studied this problem, talked with the representatives of the museums, and is using its stand to demonstrate the results of this work.

At the stand, guests and participants can acquire some information on how art finds its way into museum collections today and how the procurement and budgeting system works.

Today in Russia, there are more than 100 art museums, about 10% of them having an opportunity to get the most significant works by Russian contemporary artists for their collections. Throughout the country, people do not have an opportunity to get acquainted with the forefront works; thus, we are losing our country’s creative potential.

Purchasing works by contemporary artists for museum collections can be another tool to support the art industry.

The Gallery Association (AGA) was established in 2020 on the initiative of Russian contemporary art galleries and the Winzavod Contemporary Art Support Fund to represent the interests of the contemporary art industry at the private, state and international levels. At the moment, the AGA includes 22 leading Russian galleries.
