Syntax Gallery

Syntax Gallery was founded in 2019 by curator and art dealer Elvira Tarnogradskaya. The gallery creates a space for interaction of various artistic strategies and generations and supports Russian contemporary art on the international market.

One of the most important areas of the gallery's curatorial research is text in visual culture, as an integral element of art media, appearing in the works of artists of different generations with whom Syntax Gallery cooperates. The younger generation is characterized by text—centricity - the text often becomes the only element of the work, as it happens in street art. For example, the work of Kirill Kto transformed from murals into picturesque statements. The study of the relationship between different media and their transformation in the work of artists with established practice is another important analytical direction for Syntax Gallery.
