XL Gallery opened in 1993. Founders: Elena Selina (curator) and Sergey Khripun (director). Since opening, the gallery has held more than 300 exhibitions. XL Gallery works primarily with Russian artists, from classics of Moscow contemporary art (Viktor Pivovarov, Andrey Monastyrsky, Igor Makarevich, Boris Orlov, Konstantin Zvezdochetov) to young stars (Irina Korina, Blue Soup group, Alexey Buldakov, ZIP group and others). The gallery focuses on installation, video, sculpture, and multimedia projects.
