SOUND UP performa: korowod, a unique multimedia event at the intersection of music, immersive theatre and video art, will feature artist Ilya Starilov, director Yuri Kvyatkovsky, band Zventa Sventana, and Folklore Ensemble of the Gnesin Academy exploring folklore in contemporary culture. For one hour, the musicians will embark on a fascinating journey from authentic songs of Russian villages to a techno party.
This site-specific performance relies heavily on the surrounding space, which will be the recently opened giant pavilion of the Timiryazev Centre in Moscow. Having a powerful psychological effect on visitors owing to its scale, this space, which was originally not intended for performances and concerts, is also known for its special, unique sound resonances.
The SOUND UP team reimagines this space as a stage area split into two zones. The first is the rectangle of a concert hall, while the second is the centre of the pavilion delimited by screens that show a whimsical round dance of fairy-tale characters specially created as a video installation by artist Ilya Starilov. Guests and performers together will move around the grandiose space of the Timiryazev Centre, creating a shared artistic practice.
Guests are offered a combined ticket to attend Cosmoscow fair (26 October 2024, 12 to 8 p.m.) and one of two sessions (at 4 or 6 p.m.) of the multimedia concert performance SOUND UP performa: korowod.
