At the Cosmoscow fair, EKONIKA will present the “Through the Looking Glass of Shoemaking” installation. The design project was created in collaboration with an architectural studio and reflects an original view of craft and art. The project will include unique models of EKONIKA shoes and accessories.
Usually, the process of creating shoes is inaccessible to outsiders. This installation will provide an opportunity to look through the looking glass of craft, the way the author sees it. Each viewer will decide for themselves what to see in the reflection: craft, game, or their own path.
The interior of the installation refers to the game of chess. Just as a pawn can become a queen, so craft becomes art: from a simple blank to a perfect product, from an idea to a living embodiment on the other side of the looking glass. The installation will give viewers the opportunity to find themselves in a place that seems to capture a frozen scene from a dream.
A space without instructions invites the guest to explore, look at, and touch. Here, every curve of the form tells of manual labor, attention to detail, and deep expertise.
